Starting today, Cyd can migrate your old tweets directly into Bluesky! This way you can delete everything from your X account but still have a place to reference your old posts.

Here's how it works:
- Cyd will migrate any tweet as long as it's not a retweet or a reply to another user on X
- All of your images and videos will be preserved
- X's
t.co
link tracking will be removed from your posts on Bluesky - Self-replies will stay intact, which means your old Twitter threads will turn into new Bluesky threads
- Finally, your old tweets will be backdated in Bluesky, so it will be clear when you actually made each post
This work was made possible thanks to a development grant from the Skyseed fund! The same grant is also helping us push forward on adding Facebook support to Cyd.

Beautiful documentation
Oh, and speaking of documentation, check out Cyd's beautiful new documentation website!
If you're not sure exactly what Cyd is or how it works, the docs are the place to start. Here's what you'll find:
- The docs describe what Cyd is and how it works
- They show you where to download it and give you a brief tour of the app
- They include an overview of Cyd's X platform support: how to sign in to an X account, build your local database of data, browse your local archive, delete all your stuff from X, and finally how to migrate your tweets to Bluesky
- They describe Premium plans and how to manage them
- They describe Cyd for Teams and how that works, in case you want to give your employees privacy, peace of mind, and protection from doxing and harassment
- They explain how to get started as an open source contributor to the Cyd project (Cyd is open source, you can find the code on GitHub)
As we add features, we will continue to update these docs.
The Lockdown Systems Collective
While the paperwork is still being finalized, the people behind Cyd have been hard at work converting Lockdown Systems LLC (the company that makes Cyd) into a worker-owned collective.
The goals of the collective are to provide its workers with a comfortable living wage in a democratic workplace, to fight fascism and oppression, and to prioritize impact over profits. You can read more about our goals and who's involved on the Lockdown Systems Collective website. (We'll have a new logo soon too!)
If you want to support our open source work, you can donate to us on our Open Collective page. Also, sign up for a Cyd Premium plan, and get your organization to get Cyd for Teams for all your coworkers!
What's next
We have a huge list of things we're working on. Here's what's currently in the works:
- Early support for Facebook: backing up your data and deleting it from Mark Zuckerberg's computer
- Support for Bluesky as a Cyd platform, so you can keep a local backup of your Bluesky data, and automatically delete your old posts (except the ones you want to keep)
- Support for migrating your old tweets to Mastodon
Paying customers make it possible for the collective to spend our time on this work. Please support the project and get a Cyd Premium account!
